Favorite Time(s) To Workout
I prefer early morning, but anytime I can fit it in I go for it!!
Favorite Activities
running, lap swimming, sculpting with free weights, concerts, reading, listening to music /discovering new music (ok, that's not just a favorite activity - it's an obsession), movies, cooking, hanging with the girls
Fitness Center Pet Peeves (what/who annoys you at the gym?)
I'm not easily annoyed. It totally makes me laugh, though, when someone drives around looking for the closest available spot in the gym parking lot!
Favorite Motivational Quotes
"If at first you don't succeed, you are running about average."

Franklin P. Adams:
Health is the thing that makes you feel that now is the best time of the year.

Joan Welsh:
A man's health can be judged by which he takes two at a time - pills or stairs.

One of my all-time favorite quotes:
"Nothing in the world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination are omnipotent. The slogan press on has solved and always will solve the problems of the human race." - Calvin Coolidge

LadyLisa You welcome and you do look really great for 48. I just turned 30 this year and everyone around me expected me to be bummed out when my birthday came but it was the total opposite I love being 30 because I feel the best I have ever felt (well right now I'm having trouble sleeping) but otherwise besides being overtired I am still exercising through the tiredness because I know I will feel worse if I don't. Keep it up didn't you know that 40's is the new 30's!

Carina I will, as you wish. Just let me know when it starts driving you crazy and I'll back off. LOL! What's your deadline?

runningbear Thanks, Carina. I think I will. Keep pushing me, though, OK?

Carina That was funny, your comment about the couples 5K. I say "go for it" as far as the half marathon! :)
Carina on 5/15/2008 in response to runningbear Respond

runningbear I almost always run races alone. It's not too bad, although I would rather run one with someone. I did my first 5K of the year in Feb. sponsored by an organization called Partners in Pain. Duh. Stupid me. Couples who run together! Thankfully I wasn't the only solo runner, but I still felt a bit out of place - and totally envious of the couples who shared that experience. Have fun! I need to look into other races just so I stay motivated with my running. I'm seriously considering a half marathon, though I'd need to sign up soon - and get serious about training.

Carina Guess what?!?!? I just signed up for another 5K on June 14th. It's the morning of my future sister-in-law's bridal shower but she and my brother (who ran the first race with me) will still be in bed by the time the race is over! I'm so excited. I'm going by myself though... too many excuses from people.. why bother, right?
