Sprints for thinning that hard to get rid of abdominal fat!

pick 2 of your Running days in the early morning and hit a track or a park. Starting out do 40 yard dashes sprinting as fast as you can ( imagine your trying to break that HS record) then walk it off for 2 minutes and do another thru 4 sets. you should be good and winded by then , if not do a couple more.
I have been hitting 8 sets 2 days a week then jogging 2 to 3 miles 2 days a week, then walking with my wife on rest days for an hour. basically day 1 - rest or walk, day 2 - jog , day 3 - rest or walk, day 4 - sprints, day 5 - rest or walk, day 6 - jog, day 7 - sprints
Good cardio routine so far.

Well...almost a year later that I see this, but I agree with everyone here, great post.

I'm not so great in the weight loss department (for personal health reasons), but I love doing sprints. They kick my butt, but that's what I like. For me they help with my physical endurance, speed, reaction time and recovery just as much as doing plyometrics. I'm nowhere near the fastest guy in the world, but I'll be damned if I can't do between 3-5 miles at below 8 minutes a mile, and sprinting has surely helped.

Nice Routine,

I'm also a big fan of sprints followed by intervals of rest. I currently do mine in the treadmill in my work gym but the problem is that the max speed is 20km/h which is pretty fast for me but not a true sprint for only a 40 metre distance. I might look at doing some true sprints in the nearby park to compliment my work on the tready!

Good post. Sprinting will also activate your fast-twitch muscles more which will in turn give your body more definition.

Thats so true Bro I always tell people if you want a lean athletic body look to the athletes that have the perfect bodies, I will never disperage endurance runners but most all your world class distance runners lack muscle tone for simple reasons, Your body will end up feeding on the muscles to fuel your run.
Where your sprinters have almost perfectly toned and muscular bodies, but are lean!

I'm a big fan of sprints, it's also a nice way to add variety to the running routine. If you are into endurance running, sprints can help get you further faster.
