Sprint triathalon

Sprint triathalon

by jackhammer on 4/1/2009 |

Yesterday March, 30 my 30th birthday I took the plunge and signed up for my first triatahlon.  It is a sprint tri with a .8k swim, 15 mile bike ride, and 5 k run.  The race is july 18 so I have plenty of time to get ready.  My plan is to swim 3 days a week, run 2 days a week, go to Australian rules football practice 2 days a week, and ride my bike a little in between every thing else.  If anyone has any tips for me please share them.

Thanks,

Jackhammer

Their is a bike event to raise money for cancer at the end of august. People have the choice of riding 50, 100, or 180 miles.

Dav1d......usually there should be a local thriathalon in around where your from , i suggest you sign up for the most convenient 1 for you and give it a shot. keep up the training that your doing now and you should set a good time that you can be proud of. if you feel you like thriathalon stick at it and continue to train hard for it and you'll knock minutes of your best time.. its a really good sense of acheivement

I am no triathlete, though I am taking on some quite intense climbing challanges, and they suggest I should run, swim, cycle and do weights, I have been swimming allot these past few weeks and have improved allot... so I am thinking I shall try and get myself into the sport, how did you guys all go around getting involved?

I'm not involved yet but I am getting closer. I signed up for a sprint tri in july and I started this group. I strained my knee in my first of 2 australian rules football games this weekend so I will try to spend more time in the pool in the next couple of weeks. My semester ends this week so I should also be able to put a lot more time in on the bike. If you google sprint triathalons and go to the first couple of hits you should be able to find one close to you and a distance that you might be ready for.
