So after about 8 weeks on the Bowflex, I am definitely glad we bought it. Yesterday I had the best workout to date. I really pushed myself. I was going for a 1-rep max on my incline bench press, so I decided to start with 250 because I had been working out with 210 for the last three workouts. I was able to put it up pretty easily, so I kept going. I did five reps the first set and then four more sets of six reps. I was a little sceptical of the weight, so I had Chelle come in and check the weight for me. I was right, I really did put up 250lbs 29 times! I don't know what that translates to in free weights, but if you consider that I started out with only 140lbs, I definitely made an improvement! What was great about it, was that I didn't feel defeated afterwards. I went on to increase the weight on the rest of my exercises and then walked out of my workout room afterwards, feeling ten foot tall and bulletproof! I went on having a great day at work, bragging to everyone about my s... read more

Hey guys. There's an interesting article about misleading food labels and marketing tricks that play on your urge to eat healthy and get you to buy food that really isn't that healthy. One example is Kraft's "organic" macaroni & cheese. Big companies have really got wise to people wanting to be healthy, but they're also exploiting people's laziness about reading labels. It's not anything that a lot of you don't already know, but I found it to be an interesting article and thought someone else may want to read it, so here you go - enjoy!=)

Just so you guys all know, I've been really busy lately and that's why I haven't been on. I hope everyone's been doing well. I'll try to get on more later when I get some free time. The restaurant that Chelle and I run switched locations. The owner decided to move the store, so we shut down the store on Saturday night and started moving Sunday morning. We managed to get it all moved and reopened at the new location Thursday for lunch. We've been working 12 hours a day and won't get a day off until at least a week from know. We've still been eating right and have only missed two workouts during all this, so I think the new lifestyle is going to stick. Like I said, I'll try to get on later and read some of the great blogs I'm sure I've missed.... read more

Well, it's been three weeks today since Chelle and I started working out with our Bowflex. I can't tell you how much fun it's been. We're having such a great time together ( oh, I guess that means I can tell you...lol! ). We were working out on it every day for the first week, alternating between upper body and lower body each day, but now we're taking one day off each week. We decided to make that day Sunday because we have to run our errands on Mondays ( our other day off ) and that way we can sleep in on Sundays. We still go for a 30-40 minute walk with Ein ( our dog ) to get in our cardio and entertain Ein, but other than that we just take it easy that day. What's cool is that we've started working out in the mornings now, following our walk, so we have more time in the evenings. Another benefit to working out in the morning is that we eat our biggest meal of the day following the workout, so it gives us a chance to work out on an empty stomach and burn more calories and fat. I've ... read more
