New Challenge

on 5/6/2009 | filed in: Sport Fitness and Training
New Challenge Last week I had major issues with motivation - some of you may have read that somewhere ; ) So...I decided what better way to regain motivation than to face a new challenge. Am I right? SO...I DID IT - I signed up for my first sprint triathlon - and there's another one later in the summer I'm going to enter as well. I'll try to blog my progress and all I do to train for it. Am I ready? Probably not. Am I insane? Maybe...but I'm also stoked to face this new challenge. I welcome any and all advice, helpful hints, kicks in the butt - I'll take whatever you have to offer!! Wish me luck fitsters! I'm going to need it ; )

Crazy and awesome! Funny, but I'm doing the same thing. There's a summer series of 3 sprint triathlons in my community and I'm going for it. Should be a lot of fun and something new to look forward to! Now I just need a bike... ;)

Hey, that was me too. In the back of my mind I set a private goal to do a tri before I turn (dare I utter this dreaded number - 50 cough cough). So last fall I made an earnest effort toward that goal by doing my homework and deciding what features I would want in a bike and how much I was willing to spend. I didn't buy a tri bike; I decided I'd get the most from a road bike. I got fitted, started looking locally and bidding on e-bay until I finally won my beautiful Bianchi! Do you know what kind of bike you want? That's an important first step. And GOOD LUCK with your tri training Paul. I'm sure you'll have a blast!

BLESS YOU (I still have over a year btw - and I'm still not going to "own" that number until the very second I arrive - lol!!)

I agree with beast... it's just a number, just like weight - who cares... It's only a datapoint and doesn't paint the whole picture. I am taking the same approach with the bike, meaning I'm after a well rounded bike that will serve me just as well going on some trail rides with the family as it will for the triathlon. Good luck to you also - I'm sure we can swap training tips!

A new challenge? I can relate!!! I know you may be thinking this is insane, but it makes perfect sense to me :D You go for it with all you've got. If you have a new found motivation, than you've found the answer to the slump you've been in. Don't question yourself or your ability for one minute and aspire to that goal. You WILL do it. I KNOW you will!!

True. I guess I hadn't looked at it that way. I am going for it and truly excited about it. Thanks so much for the encouragement KP!!
