Hey guys. I haven't put up a FC blog in a while, so I thought i'd give everyone an update on what's been going on with the site. I've put up some new features and i'm going to outline them below because you may have not been aware of some.

Twitter

We've joined the band wagon and got on Twitter. You can follow FitConnect's newly added content there.

Messaging

If you haven't noticed already, I added a cool little feature to when you are composing a message. You will see a dropdown of your Fitsters names with an icon as you type (sorta like facebooks). In addition, if you simply click in the "To" field you will get a dropdown of the 10 people you message the most on FitConnect, so you can quickly send them a message.

Contacts Importer

Our contacts importer allows you to enter your email address for various email clients (gmail, yahoo, etc) and it will pull back your entire contacts list. From here you can choose to invite them to FitConnect or, if they are already on FitConnect, you will be able to easily add them as a fitster.

Facebook Importer

Similar to our contacts importer, by entering your username, it will pull back all of your friends and you can send messages to them that will show up in their facebook inbox. Try it out here.

Display Name

I've had a few people ask to change usernames, which is a considerable process. I came up an easy way for your guys to change your name. When you are editing your profile you will see a spot to enter a "Display Name". This is what you want to show up everywhere on the site instead of your username. This will not affect URLs which sometimes contain your username. In my example, I changed my display name to R. Ross, but my page is still located at people.fitconnect.com/tdotross3.

Threaded Comments

I've added the option to switch between flat view and threaded view on all comments throughout the site. By default, comments are now displayed in thread view. Threads are only 1 level deep. This enables a more logical view of the comments in an easy to read way.

Deactivate Account

If for some reason you feel the need to leave FitConnect, we've added another option for you -- deactivate account. If you choose to deactivate your account instead of delete your account, all of your content will stay intact (blogs, recipes, tips, etc) but your profile will become private and all of your email notifications will be shut off. So if for some reason you need a break from FC but didn't want to lose your information, because you will be returning to the site in the future, this is the option for you. This is still located in the "Settings" page when you are logged in to the site.

ShareThis

I've added ShareThis which is a tiny little icon you will see on blogs, recipes, tips, etc that enables you to quickly share the page on numerous social bookmarketing sites, facebook, as well as email to a friend.

Fitster Remove Button

People have told me that it's too easy to remove a fitster by accident, so I added a confirm popup if you click the remove fitster button on someone's profile.

Recipe Pictures

I've added the ability for any user to upload multiple pictures of their recipe in a larger format than the default picture that is shown with the recipe. You will see a tab for "pictures" when viewing a recipe that will show all the uploaded pictures and allow you to upload one as well.

Edit: March 25 -- Group Mass Message

I added the ability for group moderators to send a message to all group members.
