About Me
I completed the WITS personal fitness trainer course at Bergen Community College in the fall and passed the written and practical exams. I am now doing an internship to complete my certification at the Wyckoff Family YMCA. I am also going for ACSM certification. Once certified, I hope to work part time for a health facility and specialize in helping people with weight loss. I am presently serving as coach for a "Biggest Loser" challenge at my employer, The Star-Ledger in Newark.

Skamber "Eat more fruits
and vegetables."

It’s the one recommendation in almost every diet plan, every guide to nutrition, every fitness book. Even organizations such as the U.S. Department of Agriculture, the World Health Organization, the American Heart Association, the American Cancer Society, and the National Center for Chronic Disease Prevention and Health Promotion agree. But as much as it’s preached, most people still don’t eat enough fruits and vegetables every day.

Juice Plus+ helps fill that gap.

JimB River Edge is in Bergen County, just north of Hackensack and east of the Mall Capital of the World, Paramus.

Carina Thanks for the add, Jim and good luck on Saturday. You'll have to tell us all about it.

JimB Sometimes crow can be delicious. My hopes for WITS certification have been revived. I went back over the list and called some of the places that didn't return my calls the first time around, and today I went for an interview at the Wyckoff Family YMCA. I'll be starting my internship there Saturday! Please forgive my previous rant. It often seems that I have to make an ass of myself before things go my way.

JimB Thanks for the kind words, Carina. Since I made that post about spinning back in February I've been doing a weekly class at my gym, and it's an awesome workout!

Carina Spinning's my favorite form of cardio! I've been doing it for over 7 years now and I always joke around (it's really not funny if you know my whole story but you gotta have a sense of humor with life!) that it's the reason my son was born so early! Anyways, great job on your accomplishments... you're an inspiration to all!

JimB I'm now at WITS end. With only six hours left to go on my "internship," I have decided to blow off getting my WITS personal trainer certification and going for ACSM. I will be attending ACSM's workshop at Manhattan College in the Bronx May 9-11, and hope to take the exam soon after. Since I've been told by several gyms that WITS certification is effectively worthless, it's not worth the hassle of trying to finish the internship. Anyone who's considering taking a WITS course, take warning. It's a waste of time and money.

JimB My Jenn Widder story appears in today's Star-Ledger. For those unfortunate souls who don't live in New Jersey, you can read the text online at http://www.nj.com/living/ledger/index.ssf?/base/living-1/1204541112140510.xml&coll=1
